Who’s Watching? The Role of Technical Surveillance Counter Measures in Corporate Security

The last time you checked into a hotel room you may not have thought to check the clock radio, outlets and lamps for bugs, or recording devices used for eavesdropping. This effort is commonly referred to as technical surveillance counter measures (TSCM), and Rob Kimmons has made a career off of this practice, performing 75-100 sweeps annually.

In this episode, Fred Burton and Rob Kimmons, Owner of Kimmons Investigations, discuss the critical role that TSCM plays in successful corporate security programs. Rob shares the importance of evaluating client concerns, known threats, and the practice of regular surveillance of company property, such as board rooms and private planes. Lastly, he shares guidance for executives on common equipment to watch out for and how to perform a quick visual inspection to determine if something is not quite right.

Rob Kimmons formed his investigative and security company in 1982. Kimmons is a former Houston Police Officer and Houston FireFighter. Kimmons holds the certifications of Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified Homeland Security Expert (CHS III). He is a graduate of the Jarvis International Counterintelligence/Counter Surveillance Academy (basic and advanced schools).
