Julie Bowen

Julie is the Senior Vice President of Operations, Outreach, and Chief Legal Officer at MITRE. As chief legal officer, she oversees an in-house team that advises MITRE’s leadership and employees on legal matters, including cybersecurity issues, contracting, international and global presence, intellectual property, employment matters, healthcare law, and national security issues. She also directs MITRE’s operations, including enterprise risk management, global security services, facilities, and outreach and partnerships, which includes technology transfer to industry.

Julie has been with MITRE since 2006. She previously held several chief legal officer and general counsel positions and served as vice president of joint ventures and alliances at several technology and logistics companies. She serves as a director of MITRE Engenuity, a foundation for public good. The Washington Business Journal named Julie one of its 2021 Women Who Mean Business for her leadership inside and outside MITRE. She graduated with honors from The Catholic University of America, with both bachelor and law degrees.
