The 2023 Ontic Summit is quickly approaching, and as we enter crunch time for you to register and plan your travel, you may be wondering what you’ll be learning at the Summit and what previous attendees had to say about the event.

This year, Ontic Summit will be held March 6-8 in Austin, Texas, to bring together safety and security leaders from some of the world’s leading organizations for networking, community building and learning. This is an exclusive opportunity to explore the latest strategies and technologies propelling the industry forward while networking with security professionals from enterprises across a variety of industries from retail, energy, technology and financial services to quick-service restaurants, logistics, media and entertainment, nonprofits and more.

I am looking forward and excited about being surrounded by practitioners within the Security industry, and immersed in relevant content/discussions that will grow my skillset and knowledge. – Khris Hamlin, VP of Asset Protection, Saks OFF 5th

Many of the sessions this year are certified for ASIS CPE credit so attendees also have the option to earn over 10 continuing education credits. All of our breakout sessions will be split into three separate tracks – for all different levels and functions – so there’s something for everyone on your team. Divide and conquer to gain insights from all three tracks:

Connect: This track will give you insights into the importance of having more comprehensive and collaborative tools, technologies and teams to help you stay steadfast on your mission of keeping your people and assets safe.

Elevate: This track will help you to understand how to become a more forward-thinking team that transforms the definition of protection and the role security serves in your business’s resilience, continuity and growth.

Achieve: This track will teach you how to align on the methodologies that will give you a more holistic view of the threats and vulnerabilities that pose a risk to your business.

Given the three separate tracks, breakout sessions will cover a wide range of topics. From cyber-physical convergence, workplace safety, risk mitigation and business continuity, to proving the value of security and aligning your program with the rest of the business. We’ll be doing deep dives with industry-leading experts from some of the world’s largest brands such as Dow, MGM Resorts International, MITRE, Saks off 5th and EA.

Delivering the keynote will be U.S. Navy four-star admiral and New York Times best-selling author, Admiral William H. McRaven. His session, Leadership and Risk Management: Taking Command, will explore today’s geopolitical environment and shine a light on America’s place in an ever-changing global community. McRaven will share impactful narratives, lessons on leading amidst tumultuous times, the force of teamwork and personal initiative, and the unconditional importance of never giving up.

So, why is it important to attend events like Summit where security professionals gather to network and learn? After all of the dynamic challenges we faced last year, not only as an industry but as a nation, the conversations held at this event are timely considering the current heightened threat environment.

There are several reasons why it is important for security teams to attend events like Summit. First, such events provide a great opportunity for security professionals to network and connect with others in their field. This can help them to build valuable relationships and gain access to a wealth of knowledge and expertise that can be useful in their work. Second, attending events like Summit can help security teams to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the field of corporate security. This can be particularly important in an industry that is constantly evolving and where new threats and challenges are constantly emerging. Finally, attending events like Summit can also be a great way for security teams to learn from the experiences of others and to hear about best practices and techniques that can help them to improve their own security efforts. Ours is a highly collaborative space, and we all benefit from sharing knowledge and supporting one another. – John Robert, Director of Global Intelligence & Protection, Dow

One of last year’s attendees, Wendy Bashnan, CSO at a Fortune 500 Technology company also shared, “This is one of my top conferences to attend this year. It’s in turbulent times that we need great conversations to challenge the norms and push for the change we need.”

And if that’s not enough – since this takes place in Austin, you can always count on amazing food and lots of fun! We hope to see you in March to advance the industry and create safer businesses around the world.
